Preseason Match Thread: AIK vs Portland Timbers [5:00]

In the last preseason game before March 3rd and the last chance for Portland to work out any kinks before games start to count.

Steve Dykes

Tonight the Portland Timbers end their 2013 preseason against the Swedish team AIK, While this game does not count in any standings there still is some added significance as this is the last organized game before Portland plays their home opener on March 3rd. This is the last chance for Caleb Porter to make adjustments before the games start to count.

Something close to Portland's best 11 will more than likely be the starting line-up against AIK.

Projected line-up:

Donovan Ricketts, Michael Harrintgon, Andrew Jean Baptisite, David Horst, Ryan Miller, Diego Chara, Will Johnson, Kalif Alhassan, Diego Valeri, Darlington Nagbe, and Ryan Johnson.

Final Thoughts

If Portland's offense is clicking like it did during the first tournament game one could expect some log slices to be handed out. Portland's defense needs to show improvement and if they don't it could mean a long season of trying to consistently outscore the opponent. Judging by the other games AIK has played this could either turn into a scoreless draw but if I was forced to predict a scoreline I would guess Portland wins 2-0
