Cascadia Cup: Portland Timbers @ Seattle Sounders Match Thread [5:00 pm]

In their first road game of the new season, the Portland Timbers look to take on arch-rivals the Seattle Sounders. This is the big one.

Tom Hauck

The Portland Timbers travel north today to take on the Seattle Sounders. You know the headlines. You've heard the hype. There's not much left to say about it. Three points would be great for the Timbers. A loss would set a bad tone for the rest of the season.

Here's all the info you need:

General Information

Watch it on: NBC Sports Network

Kick off: 5:00 pm at CenturyLink Field

Seattle Sounders: 0 points, currently 9th in the West

Portland Timbers: 1 points, currently 7th in the West

Final Thoughts

Expect a different sort of Timbers than we've come to expect from them at home. While I'm anticipating a similar line up, the tactics are sure to be varied to account for playing away from home. Beyond that, however, this is a rivalry game so there's always that added extra tension and energy behind it.

Here's to a great first road game of the season!
