Portland Timbers Training Quotes and Notes: Away to DC

This morning the Timbers held their final training session before heading across the country to take on D.C. United this weekend.

In perfect soccer weather this morning, cold and slightly drizzling, the Portland Timbers got in their final practice before heading to Washington D.C. For this weekend's game against D.C. United. The team practiced at their Beaverton training facility.

Before practice was closed to the press, the Timbers went through their usual warmups on the facility's turf pitch, before moving to the grass field for the remainder of practice.

Injuries and Absences

Today's notable absence was Ryan Kawulok. No information was available on his status, although Kawulok did practice yesterday. UPDATE: Kawulok was waived today.

Several players returned to practice today after having a day off to treat their assorted knocks. Diego Valeri and Will Johnson were both back and warming up with the team after being given Tuesday off to recuperate from injuries picked up in the game against Vancouver.

Michael Nanchoff also rejoined the team for today's warmups after working out separately for several day thanks to a bruised heel.

Sebastian Rincon remained out of practice today as he comes back from a hamstring injury. Rincon did not warm up with the team, but he did do some running under the supervision of the Timbers' training staff.

Trialists and Guest Players

Centerback Rauwshan McKenzie is still working with the team as he continues his trial. According to Caleb Porter last week, McKenzie is being looked at to give the team some depth at centerback. UPDATE: He just got signed.

David Meves was not there today. I am really just going to stop mentioning David Meves unless he is actually training with the Timbers.
