U.S. Open Cup: Portland Timbers vs. Tampa Bay Rowdies Match Thread [7:30 pm]

The Portland Timbers take on the Tampa Bay Rowdies in the next stage of the U.S. Open Cup.

The Portland Timbers return home to take on the Tampa Bay Rowdies in order to advance in the U.S. Open Cup. Against their last opponent the Timbers managed to nail 5 goals home against the Wilmington Hammerheads. However, as previously stated, the Rowdies shouldn't be considered as easy of an opponent. At the very least, their goalkeeping situation seems solid.

Here's are the details for tonight's match:

General Information

Portland Timbers: 24 points in MLS.

Tampa Bay Rowdies: 12 points in the NASL.

Starting Lineups:

Final Thoughts

A win tonight would be huge for the Timbers as they continue their quest for the U.S. Open Cup trophy, but it will also be very challenging. As revealed last week, should the Timbers win tonight they'll then go on to face either FC Dallas or the Houston Dynamo in Texas. It doesn't matter which one wins their respective USOC game, the Timbers have to play away from home. But that is, perhaps, thinking a bit too far into the future. For now, the Timbers need to focus on their game tonight against the Tampa Bay Rowdies.
