Tonight will see the Portland Timbers take on the San Jose Earthquakes for the final time of the 2013 season. If the Timbers manage to earn a win tonight they'll have successfully earned 7 of a possible 9 points, a bit better than 2012's record of 5 our of 9 points, albeit in 2012 the Timbers had two home games against San Jose. Still, it would certainly be an impressive run against the 2012 Supporters Shield winners.

Final Thoughts
The Colorado Rapids, New York Red Bulls, and Philadelphia Union did the Timbers a huge favor tonight by beating the LA Galaxy, Real Salt Lake and Vancouver Whitecaps respectively. Right now we're looking at a situation where if the Timbers manage to bring home the three points they need they could see themselves level with Real Salt Lake with a game in hand. That will be very important come August when the Timbers play the Salt Lake City side three times, twice in regular season play.
