Tomorrow afternoon at 1:30 p.m. Portland Timbers Owner Merrit Paulson, MLS Commissioner Don Garber, and Portland Mayor Charlie Hales will hold a press conference to discuss what today's press release calls an "upcoming soccer event".
Some early speculation that the Timbers could host the 2014 All-Star game seems likely, given Merritt Paulson's tweet earlier this year that hinted at that possibility (which can be found here). This would be strange timing for the announcement, however, as in previous years the ASG location has not been announced until January.
Others have also speculated that this could be an announcement regarding the location of the MLS Cup final, but for this year's playoffs, the final will be hosted at the home of the finalist with the best regular season record.
So, what else could it be? Give us your ideas in the comments below.
