The Portland Timbers held their final practice of the week this morning before heading up to Seattle for tomorrow's match against their rivals the Seattle Sounders. Training took place at the team's Beaverton training facility as the Timbers completed their preparations for the weekend's match.
As is usual on the day before a match, the Timbers started the session off with a long team meeting before before hitting the pitch for practice. The pre-practice meeting, usually around 15 minutes long, lasted for half an hour today.
Injuries and Absences
Ben Zemanski, who missed practice yesterday with an unknown injury, was back in the team warmups today. As practice closed and the rest of the team moved over to the grass pitch, Zemanski stayed with the team's trainers. Although no official indication was given, it looked like Zemanski could be dealing with a groin strain.
Jack Jewsbury warmed up with the rest of the team for the second day in a row and appeared to stay with the team as practice was closed to the press. Jewsbury has been in and out of practice since picking up an ankle knock against the Vancouver Whitecaps three weeks ago.
Will Johnson did not train with the team today, instead watching practice from the sidelines alongside Futty Danso and Brent Richards.
Mikael Silvestre made an appearance at the training facility today, joining some of the other Timbers in the weight room and watching the Portland Thorns take on FC Kansas City (still on Fox Sports 2 as of the time this posts and tied 2-2).
