Diego Valeri has had a hell of a season. More than his fourteen assists through 32 games; more than his eleven goals; Valeri has put the Portland Timbers on his back, lifted them out of their early season morass, and carried them into playoff contention.
Before today's home finale put the wraps on the Timbers' regular season at Providence Park, the Timbers Army announced that Diego Valeri had been named the Timbers Army Supporters Player of the Year.
Following in the footsteps of Troy Perkins, Diego Chara, and Will Johnson; Valeri was give the TA's annual honor after a popular vote open to anyone with membership in the Timbers Army. ("If you want to be in the Timbers Army, you already are.")
Valeri will receive the Player of the Year belt after tonight's match.
