Portland Timbers Tease New Primary Kit for 2015

The Timbers gave us just a hint of what to expect.

With Major League Soccer's new rotating kit release schedule, the Timbers are due for a new primary this year. Yesterday the Portland Timbers twitter account teased us all with the first shot of what is presumably the new kit.

It is hard to break down just what the new kit will look like from this small patch, but there are some visual cues that we can draw on to get a better idea of what is going on here.

1. The orientation of the Timbers' crest, which has been changed over to the text-less version that had been the clubs secondary logo until now, gives us some directionality, pointing toward the top of the kit.

2. The letter that is visible on the right side of the picture appears to be the top of the "k" in the Alaska Air logo, giving us a better sense of scale and directionality as well.

3. The placement of the first two elements seems to indicate that the lighter green triangle at the top of the kit is a part of the kit's collar. (Perhaps something evocative of this collar.)

4. Given the placement of elements 1-3, the kit appears to have a white stripe across the front that angles halfway across the kit. This could be a chevron, a diamond, or a complete color change for the lower half of the jersey.

The emphasis on the chevrons as the dominating trait on the team's new primary logo, however, make that look like the top contender.

What do you think of the Timbers' tease? Any guesses as to how it will look?
