Portland Timbers U-23s to Play Twice at Providence Park

The saplings' season starts in just two weeks.

Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

The Portland Timbers U-23s announced the venues for their upcoming season today and will be playing two matches at Providence Park this year. The Timbers U-23s start their season on May 15th with a match against the Vancouver Whitecaps U-23s at Providence.

In 2013, the Timbers U-23s finished second in the PDL Northwest Division during the regular season to the Victoria Highlanders. Having qualified for the playoffs thanks to a play-in victory over the Whitecaps U-23s, the Timbers U-23s advanced to the conference finals where they fell to the Highlanders.

Of the 2013 Timbers U-23s, four were selected in the 2014 MLS Superdraft, including target striker Mark Sherrod who saw several minutes of playing time, and one badly missed chance to score, against the Timbers first team when they played the Houston Dynamo last weekend.
