World Cup 2014 Open Thread: Day 15 [Ze Germans are Coming!]

The USA take on Germany today with their World Cup hopes on the line.

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Today is a big day for the United States Men's National Team. No. Today is a big day for the United States of America. A win or a tie against Germany puts the United States through to the knockout stages of the cup, a position they have never been in for consecutive World Cups before.

The match kicks off at 9:00 AM on ESPN while Portugal and Ghana, who can also put the US through with a tie, fight for their own chance at advancing out of Group G if the US should stumble.

The day's later pair of matches see South Korea-Belgium and Algeria-Russia wrap up the group stage of the 2014 World Cup. Belgium is already through in Group H, but the rest of the pool need results to assure their own advancement.
