O When The Yanks has honored four members of the Timbers Academy as All-Northwest Division selections, the website announced Thursday.

At the U-15/16 level, midfielder Reid Baez earned All-Northwest Division honors after netting five goals for the U-16s and adding four with the U-18s during the 2013-14 academy season. The honor adds to a good couple of weeks for Baez as he recently announced his verbal commitment to play soccer at the University of Portland in the fall of 2015.

The U-18 All-Northwest Division team was arranged as a 3-4-3 with forward Anthony Macchione of the Timbers Academy earning recognition from OWTY. An Akron-bound Macchione scored 17 goals for the U-18s and is rated by OWTY as the No. 96 player in the class of 2014.

Also bound for Akron, Niko De Vera is the only true wide defender on the All-Northwest Division squad. De Vera scored three goals for the U-18s this past season.

The fourth Timbers Academy member to be named to the All-Northwest Division side is center back Peter Prescott. Like Baez, Prescott has another year ahead of him with the Saplings before heading to college in the fall of 2015.

Notes: With his commitment to the University of Portland, Baez becomes the first member of the academy to commit to Portland and the fourth to commit to a D1 program in the state of Oregon (Spencer Kleweno, Mitch North and Alex Segovia: Oregon State).

Baez also becomes the second member of the Timbers Academy class of 2015 to announce his college commitment, joining Prescott who is set to join Creighton.
