Well, fans of the Portland Timbers have always traveled well and the Columbus Crew SC fanbase are no slouches either, so it should not come as any surprise that tickets for the 2015 MLS Cup Final sold out in a matter of minutes.
The Crew's MAPFRE Stadium normally seats 19,968, but it sounds like additional seats are bring added for the Final. Regardless, they went quick and while some might become later, not even all of those who were ready to pull the trigger at 8:00 a.m. this morning got in.
On the Portland side of things, it appears that the Timbers Army's organizing body, the 107IST were allotted around 850 tickets for the match. Those went on sale at 8:00 this morning and were sold out by 8:04. The Timbers Army Twitter account has mentioned that the few tickets that were held in reserve will go on sale tomorrow at noon.
Not all hope is lost for those able to make the trip, however. Tickets will certainly continue to pop up throughout the week and an eagle-eyed fan might just be able to grab them.
For those on the lookout, keep an eye on the Twitter accounts of the Timbers, Crew, Timbers Army, and good old Merritt Paulson just in case.
