Ishmael Yartey, an out-of-favor Ghanaian who can theoretically play LW and CAM, has reportedly been sent to Portland in very similar circumstances to Adi. Yartey's career is a perpetual loan story, rarely making appearances for his home clubs between his loan stints. His career year appears to have been '11-'12, so he's a couple seasons removed from his glory. His previous loan stint was at FC Sion in the Swiss League.
Yartey also has 7 caps for the Ghanaian national team, scoring 1 goal for the Black Stars.
At this point, it is unclear what the plans are for Yartey; is he another Gavin Wilkinson Ghana project? Or is he going to be another Valeri or Adi--a loan-in who immediately impresses? Either way, it will add much-needed depth to a paper-thin LM position.
