T2 Travel to Vancouver For Fathers Day

Kevin N. Hume

Having taken another win at home, T2 must travel again. However, this is only a single game trip up to fellow USL Cascadian side Vancouver Whitecaps 2.

Portland Timbers 2

T2 (5-6-2, 17 pts) followed up two horrid road performances with a solid 3-1 win in the friendly confines of Merlo Field against the Austin Aztex. Having finally gotten to play at home after another long road trip, T2 put 2 goals on the board in the final 5 mins of the first half before tallying an insurance goal with 2 mins to spare in the second. The win also boosted T2 back above the red line.

This away match to Vancouver will also be the first time T2 face their fellow USL Cascadian side this season. And following the match against Whitecaps 2 they will return home to Merlo Field to face Sounders 2 again the day after both first teams face each other at Providence Park. Portland Timbers will host Seattle Sounders on Sunday the 28th, and then T2 will host S2 on Monday the 29th at 7:00pm.

Vancouver Whitecaps 2

Whitecaps 2 (3-7-4, 13 pts) will host T2 after having lost to LA Galaxy II 2-0 at home. That loss was their first loss at home for them this season and their third loss in a row. Their home record after the loss is two wins, one loss, and three draws.

Also Vancouver only scored 6 goals in the previous five home games. So a lot of numbers point to possible success for T2 on this trip. Forward Caleb Clarke and goalkeeper Spencer Richey will be players to keep an eye on. Clarke is the team's leading scorer with 5 goals and 1 assist in 14 games. While Richey will likely start in goal and be responsible for keeping the defense organized against Belmar and his wingers.
