Portland Thorns midfielder McCall Zerboni has been suspended an additional game, the NWSL Disciplinary Committee announced Monday.

Zerboni was issued a Red Card in the 69th minute off the June 19 match against FC Kansas City after stepping on the back on FC Kansas City forward Shea Groom, after Groom fouled Thorns teammate Sinead Farrelly at midfield.  Immediately after the foul, Zerboni stepped on Groom, leaving her on the pitch for several minutes as trainers looked at her, though it is not known if this was due to earlier collision or Zerboni's actions.

In since-deleted tweets, Zerboni had this to say on the incident:

Any1 who knows me knows i would never intentionally try 2 hurt someone. I simply couldn't stop my momentum as i was already stepping forward

— McCaLL Zerboni (@McCaLL2) June 20, 2015

I will take, accept and understand anything and everything that follows this. My actions are my own.

Zerboni will miss the match this Friday against Sky Blue FC, as well as the Thorns' visit to Yurcak Field in Piscataway, New Jersey on July 11.
