The Portland Timbers take on more Eastern Conference opposition today as the New England Revolution come to town for tonight's match at Providence Park. With the two teams only separated by two points, this could be an exciting one with both going for all three points.
The Timbers' stout defense and slowly awakening attack will be pitted against high-scoring New England and their back line that has been less than stellar in 2015.
Previews
Match Preview: "While Johnson is still working his way back from the Tibia-Fibula break that kept him out for the first third of the season, he is back in playing shape and brings a decidedly different look to the Timbers' midfield than any of the team's other options. With Johnson in, the Timbers have another player that will be looking to get the ball forward and distribute for the attack, rather than simply looking to possess the ball."
Preview Interview: "Their inability to protect leads is troubling, and it speaks to a lack of focus. The Revs are at their best when they are shoving the game down your throat and suffocating you with the high press. What they've done lately is press, score, and then sit back and dawdle. When that happens, teams get numbers forward and overwhelm the Revolution defense, which leads to conceding goals."
