Match Preview: Going Through The Motions

Steve Dykes-USA TODAY Sports

It is the last game of the season for T2. An away trip to home of the LA Galaxy and their USL team LA Galaxy II. When Los Dos came to visit Portland they scored early and kept T2 off the board to return home with all three points. Now, Los Dos will be looking for playoff positioning while T2 could just be waiting for the end of the 90 to come.

Portland Timbers 2

T2 (10-15-2, 32 pts) opted not to play post season spoiler much like the Real Monarchs have. Sacramento came to town and put 3 goals into the net in the first half at Providence Park. With too big of a hole to dig out of, the game was lost to the hosts.

After the match Jay Vidovich talked about how these players have to play for their spots for next season as well as prove they deserve to spend the off season training with the first team. There will likely be some decent shaking up of the roster. And with a season for the first team continuing through the end of October and possibly longer if they get their own act together, there is ample reason for these players to give it their all.

LA Galaxy II

LA Galaxy II (13-10-2, 42 pts) have tumbled down to 5th place after taking two losses in a row. Both 2-1 defeats on the road, Los Dos lost to Arizona United and Orange County Blues. But prior to these two matches LA Galaxy II had already secured their visit to the post season.

But with two road losses suffered, Los Dos will be looking to make up lost ground in playoff positioning with a home win. And after this match, LA Galaxy II will have one last game to try to help boost their positioning in the post season. The only absence for Los Dos should be defender Bradley Diallo, who will miss this home match having picked up his 5th yellow card of the season.

After this match, the inaugural season for T2 will be over. Taylor Peay and George Fochive gained vital minutes that helped them be successful when they were called upon with the first team. And Blake Bodily stepped up from the academy to gain a not-insignificant amount of minutes in the second half of the season. Bodily, in particular, is the one name we should all be keeping an eye on for the future.
