Liam Ridgewell, Jake Gleeson arrested for DUII

Both Timbers players have posted bail and are set for a Nov. 16 court date.

UPDATE: The Oregonian has more details of the arrest here. It appears that Gleeson rear-ended another car and called Ridgewell to pick him up. Thankfully, there were no injuries according to the report.

One of the worst weeks in Portland Timbers history just got a little worse with news that center back Liam Ridgewell and goalkeeper Jake Gleeson were arrested for DUII late Monday. The players posted the $7,500 bail and were released, according to sheriff records.

Ridgewell did not play on Sunday due to yellow card accumulation.

The news comes directly on the heels of a week that saw the Timbers fail to qualify for the CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinals and the MLS Cup playoffs, as well as lose the Cascadia Cup.

On Wednesday, the Timbers needed to beat Saprissa at home to move on in CCL, but ended up tying. That failure was compounded on Sunday when the Timbers lost 4-1 to the Vancouver Whitecaps. The loss not only eliminated the Timbers from the playoffs, but the three-goal loss allowed the Whitecaps to overtake them for the Cascadia Cup on goal-difference.
