The Portland Timbers Announce 2016 Club Awards

The Portland Timbers announced their 2016 club awards.

The Portland Timbers announced their 2016 club awards today. There are eight major categories for the first team and eight awards for the development programs. It will come as no surprise to anyone who has followed the 2016 Timbers that the awards were dominated by Diego Chara and Diego Valeri, who won a combined four out of eight awards.

First Team Awards

  • Players’ Player of the Year – Diego Chara
  • Supporters’ Player of the Year – Diego Valeri
  • Golden Boot – Fanendo Adi
  • Unsung Hero – Jack Jewsbury
  • Play of the Year – Diego Valeri’s chip July 17 against Seattle Sounders FC
  • Defender of the Year – Diego Chara
  • Up-and-Coming Player of the Year – Jack Barmby
  • Community MVP – Zarek Valentin

Developmental Program Awards:

  • Timbers Academy Player of the Year (2015-16) – Marco Farfan
  • Timbers U-23s Player of the Year – Max Ornstil
  • Timbers ODP Boys Coach of the Year – Chris Thurley
  • Timbers ODP Boys Player of the Year – Andre Saucedo-Avila
  • Thorns FC ODP Girls Coach of the Year – Jennifer Hull
  • Thorns FC ODP Girls Player of the Year – Paige Alexander
  • Timbers Camp Boys Coach of the Year – Anthony Pagano
  • Timbers Camp Girls Coach of the Year – Laura Sullivan
