The Portland Timbers worked at the team's Beaverton training facility this morning, getting their first session on their grass first this year.
With Sunday's match against the San Jose Earthquakes coming up quickly, the Timbers spent the early minutes of practice indoors, likely watching video, before hitting the pitch for a rowdy rondo. Despite the light rain, a good mood seemed to persist, epitomized by Zarek Valentin's round-off celebration following a nutmeg of The Maestro, Diego Valeri.
The Timbers finished off the open portion of practice with their standard agility drills for warmups.
Barmby Watch
The Timbers' new loanee, Jack Barmby, had not yet joined the team for training today. Asked about his potential arrival, Porter told the press that Barmby would be arriving on Tuesday morning and would need to be evaluated by the team, but could be available for selection against Real Salt Lake on the 19th.
Injuries and Absences
Andrew Thoma remains out as he recovers from a knee injury picked up in a T2 scrimmage against Oregon State University last weekend. Thoma is expected to be out of training for another six weeks.
Nick Besler and Michael Seaton were not present at training today. It seems likely that the pair will be in training with T2.
