MLS Week 6.5 Open Thread: Midweek Matches Begin

Noah K. Murray-USA TODAY Sports

In the wake of the recent international dates, several teams are now being forced to play mid-week games -- including the Timbers. Each of the teams in action tonight will be playing three games this week in seven (POR), eight (COL, SJE, NYR), or nine (SKC, FCD) days.

Wednesday

Sporting Kansas City vs. Colorado Rapids

Watch it on: MLS Live

Kickoff: 5:30 p.m. PT at Children's Mercy Park in Kansas City, KA

One sentence preview: SKC is at the top of the Western Conference with a record of 4-1-0, so things will not be easy for the Rapids in this one as they travel to Kansas, even if they have only allowed three goals in five games so far this season.

San Jose Earthquakes vs. New York Red Bulls

Watch it on: MLS Live

Kickoff: 7:30 p.m. PT at Avaya Stadium in San Jose, CA

One sentence preview: The Red Bulls have the league's worst goal differential at -7 and are heading all the way across the country to face the Earthquakes, who are 2-0-1 at home.

Portland Timbers vs. FC Dallas

Watch it on: ROOT Sports

Kickoff: 7:30 p.m. PT at Providence Park in Portland, OR

One sentence preview: Injury-hit Timbers will need to show up big time against even a Mauro Diaz-less FC Dallas.
