New, comments
Troy Wayrynen-USA TODAY Sports

The Portland Timbers are up for their third match of the week today as they take on the San Jose Earthquakes. With an in form San Jose coming to town, the Timbers will need to be on top of their collective game as they do not want to repeat falling on their faces again this week. And there is no rest for the weary as they play this third match in seven days. Injuries continue to mount but hopefully some that have been away will start to return in the coming days. Won't help them tonight unfortunately.

Previews

Match Preview: "But San Jose is coming in strong with Wondolowski in form and Amarikwa dangerous and Bernardez continuing to anchor their backline. The Timbers continue to struggle as injuries and poor form are hurting the defending champions. Darlington Nagbe has proven he is anything but human with a return to training today but is guaranteed not to be available for the match. Alvas Powell also joins the injury bench with an expected 6-8 week absence due to needing wrist surgery after Wednesday night's loss."
