Chara, Mattocks not available for tomorrow's game.

Key players out against NYCFC

Sean Porkorny-USA TODAY Sports

Fresh off the presses from Jamie Goldberg: Diego Chara suffered a toe injury and Darren Mattocks tore his meniscus in the FC Dallas game. Our record wasn't the only thing that was hurt:

Mattocks tore his meniscus in the game and underwent surgery Friday. He will miss the next four to six weeks, which could leave the Timbers pretty thin on the wing for the next month and a half.

Chara injured his toe in the game and will not be able to play Sunday. Timbers coach Caleb Porter said Chara is currently having trouble putting pressure on his toe, but added that he was hopeful Chara would be back in time for next week's home game against the Vancouver Whitecaps.

What does this mean for tomorrow? Well, it was Ben Zemanski's birthday this week, so at the very least the birthday boy seems probable to start, but we could easily see a 4-2-3-1 with Zemanski and Jewsbury as the two defensive minded midfielders. In which case, this game is probably going to be a bit of a slog and someone will grind out a 1-0 victory.
