Is Dairon Asprilla Headed Back to Colombia?

It seems like Fanendo Adi is not the only Portland Timbers player to be linked with a move this summer: according to rumors on Twitter, Timbers winger Dairon Asprilla could be headed back to Colombia to join Bogota side Millonaros FC.

Millonaros is not the only club to be linked to Asprilla recently; Argentine club Estudiantes de la Plata have also been linked to the player in a report published on diariohoy.net.

Of course, unlike the rumors surrounding Adi, there are far fewer barriers to this move actually happening. Where Adi is central to the Timbers’ scoring and attacking game plan, Asprilla has been in and out of the side, seemingly falling out of favor with Caleb Porter earlier in the season before making his return to the side in the Timbers’ 4-2 win over the Vancouver Whitecaps in May, scoring a goal in the process.

With the Timbers still looking to shore up their roster at the halfway point in the season, offloading Asprilla could net the Timbers a decent amount of salary cap space with which to work.
