Rumor: The Portland Timbers Have Signed a Left Back

MLS: Portland Timbers at Chicago Fire Mike DiNovo-USA TODAY Sports

The Portland Timbers have been in search of a new left back to come in and make the position his own ever since the departure of Jorge Villafana over the offseason, but despite opportunities for Jack Barmby, Jermaine Taylor, Zarek Valentin, and Chris Klute, no one player has been able to lock the spot down. Now, however, it appears that the Timbers may have gotten their man if rumors on Twitter are to be believed.

If this is true then there are only so many full backs who fit the bill and #RCTID has been on the case since late last night, putting forward at least one strong contender: Lithuanian full back Vytautas Andriuskevicius.

According to soccernews.nl, Andriuskevicius is looking to move to a foreign club after playing out his contract with newly relegated Dutch side SC Cambuur, where he made 52 appearances in the Eredivisie over the last two seasons. The article also links Andriuskevicius with interest from Italian, German, French, and English club.

Of course, this is still just a rumor and the description above could potentially apply to several other players, so it is not quite time to add Andriuskevicius to your roster sheets just yet.

Would Andriuskevicius be a good pick up for the Timbers? Is there a spot other than left back that the team should be addressing now that the summer transfer window is open?
