This morning, after a few days of speculation, FC Dallas finally inked former Timbers defender Norberto Paparatto. With CONCACAF Champions League matches coming up (including one this Thursday), Paparatto is expected to provide some depth to the backline. He could also see some regular season MLS action should the team continue to widen its points total over the rest of the West and Óscar Pareja decides to keep his team well rested for a playoff run. Paparatto will reunite with former Timber and fellow Argentine Maxi Urruti, so there is bound to both plenty of shenanigans and mate for all.
Because the Timbers offered Paparatto a contract at the end of last season (which was rejected) FC Dallas had to compensate Portland with some TAM. While exact figures are not disclosed, hopefully it comes close to offsetting the amount used in this afternoon’s acquirement of Gbenga Arokoyo.
Press release is below, and don’t forget to allow yourself one more go at singing Papa-papa-ratto to the tune of Lady Gaga’s Paparazzi as a final goodbye. We’ll always have this moment:
For immediate release: Aug. 2, 2016
