2017 MLS SuperDraft: Let’s Watch the Combine! Day 2

MLS: Combine Jayne Kamin-Oncea-USA TODAY Sports

The 2017 MLS Combine is in full swing, kicking off with a pair of matches on Sunday afternoon and continuing today with another two as the seniors, Generation Adidas signings, and young internationals square off to impress assorted MLS coaches — likely including Portland Timbers head coach Caleb Porter.

With the Timbers’ immediate needs unlikely to be addressed via the draft, just who the side are looking at remains unknown, but at the No. 10 pick there will still be plenty of prospects in play and all of them should be in action in the combine.

Today’s set of games will kick off at 1:15 p.m. PT when Team Copa take on Team Chaos as the two losing sides from match day one look to bounce back. Both sides showed signs of life late in Sunday’s matches, but players like Copa’s Jacori Hayes and Marcus Epps, and Chaos’s Brandon Aubrey and Shamit Shome will want to show well if they are going to maintain their high rankings going into the draft.

The second match of the day will see Sunday’s winners — Team Control and Team Tango — face off at 3:00 p.m. PT. Both sides features some standout play in the first set of matches with players like Louisville’s Daniel Johnson and (our first round pick in the SB Nation Mock Draft) Akron’s Jonathan Lewis showing particularly well and moving up draft big boards all over the internet.

Check out the matches via the links above and let us know who you liked, who you didn’t, and who the Timbers should be looking at in Friday’s SuperDraft.
