Major League Soccer announced yesterday that the expansion draft for Los Angeles Football Club, who enter the league next season, will take place December 12th. The same thing was done last year for the inclusion of Atlanta United and Minnesota United.
Here are the rules for the draft:
LAFC will have five picks in the draft. All 22 existing MLS clubs will be able to protect 11 players prior to the Expansion Draft; Generation adidas players and off-budget Homegrown Players are automatically exempt from selection and do not need to be protected. Only a single player can be drafted from any one club.

This means the Timbers need to come up with 11 players they’re willing to protect. Some are no-brainers, others not so much. The complete list of players available for the expansion draft will be released on December 10th by 5:30p est/2:30p pst. The good thing is only one player could be drafted from the Timbers.
