Diego’s Biggest Fan

At his 2017 MLS MVP award ceremony, Diego Valeri was presented with a video of some soccer heavyweights offering their congratulations, including Falcao, Kaka, Nacho Piatti, Landon Donovan, and Timbers Diego Chara, David Guzman, and Zarek Valentin, among others. Valeri was on the verge of shedding a tear at this gracious display; however, it was a fan from a lower weight class whose praise and excitement moved him and onlookers more deeply. Shortly after the press conference, the Timbers posted a video to their Twitter account of Diego breaking the news to his daughter, Connie, and it is the sweetest thing we have seen in a long time. You can watch the video below; it’s a heartwarming cure for these dark, cold winter nights.

At the award ceremony, Connie grew overzealous and absconded with the trophy during a photo op. Perhaps she knew the value of the trophy and was hastening to cash in. After all, she was doing her math homework when her dad broke the news.
