The Rose City Invitational continues to day as the Portland Timbers take on Minnesota United. The Timbers are expected to roll out their second XI today, giving a look to players like Jack Barmby, Chance Myers, and Amobi Okugo who will be competing for spots in the XI this season before bringing in the team’s projected starters to close out the match.
With the 2017 season fast approaching the Timbers’ first team is looking sharp — ill-advised elbows aside — and now it is time for the rest of the team to take their opportunity to impress.
Match Preview
“Unlike the Timbers’ top XI, this group will likely have more of a patchwork feel to it as the side makes due without Gbenga Arokoyo and Roy Miller at center back, who are unavailable to due injury and loan, respectively. Those losses will leave the Timbers with a makeshift back line, playing Chance Myers and Zarek Valentin at full back, and Rennico Clarke and trialist Jhamir Ordain at center back in front of Jeff Attinella.”
