The preseason continues this evening as the Portland Timbers are set to play their final match in Tucson before returning home to Providence Park. Tonight the Timbers will face off against the Seattle Sounders, with the rivalry between the two sides bringing a little extra heat to what is otherwise a chance for the side to continue improving their match fitness.
What’s more, the match will be the first since the Timbers signed Argentine winger Sebastian Blanco earlier this week, potentially giving fans their first chance to see him in action with the Green and Gold. New addition Lawrence Olum will also join the team for his first match since the Timbers acquired him from Sporting Kansas City.
Timbers players Fanendo Adi, David Guzman, and Liam Ridgewell will also be making their broadcast debuts in this match after playing in the Timbers’ closed match against Croation side NK Istra 1961 last week.
Like in the match against Istra, the Timbers will play two groups for 45 minutes apiece, likely running out a lineup close to their expected starting XI for March and a second lineup of reserves and trialists.
