Week three of the Major League Soccer season is here and the Portland Timbers are set to host the Houston Dynamo in a clash of two-win teams in the West.
Previews
Match Preview: “On the back line, Liam Ridgewell remains out after picking up a foot sprain following the Timbers’ week one win over Minnesota United FC. Ridgewell will be replaced for the second game in a row by new arrival Roy Miller. Miller’s first match with the Timbers was last week’s 1-0 road win against the LA Galaxy, in which he looked composed despite having practiced only twice with the team in the run up to the game.”
Preview Interview: “This is an entirely different back line with the exception of DaMarcus Beasley. We’ve added lots of experience with Leonardo and A. J. DeLaGarza coming in from a very successful LA Galaxy side and we’ve added center back Adolfo Machado who has an extensive showing with the Panamanian National Team. Beasley and DeLaGarza specifically help the style of play as they’re both players that like to push into the offense which can overwhelm some defenses. Leonardo and Machado are more “enforcer” type of center backs which can intimidate some attackers as they’re more than ready to get physical.”
