Portland Timbers at Philadelphia Union: How to Watch, Previews, Match Chat [4:00]

It All Starts Here: Portland Timbers vs. Philadelphia Union in Pictures Roscoe Myrick

The Portland Timbers are in the City of Brotherly Love today to take on the Philadelphia Union. The Timbers are looking to reestablish themselves as a top team in the league after going winless in their last two matches, but in order to do so they will need to get through a team in Philadelphia that have their backs up against the wall and have yet to win a match.

Quick Preview: “In this match up of teams playing similar styles and formations, it will be up to the Timbers to make advantageous match ups happen and that means going at a Union back line that has looked decidedly fragile despite only giving up six goals so far this season. If Diego Valeri and Fanendo Adi can run at Oguchi Onyewu, they will be putting the former USMNT star in a very uncomfortable spot which shiuld result in goals, cards, or both.”

Preview Interview: “A lot has gone wrong for the Union thus far this season. Promising young center back Josh Yaro has been out, having had surgery on his shoulder - the same tear of the right labrum he suffered last year in a match against Orlando City. This has forced Oguchi Onyewu in at center back, and while Gooch has played well there have been times where the opposing offenses have been able to capitalize on his relative lack of mobility.”
