After three weeks without a win, the Portland Timbers are headed to Canada in search of all three points from today’s match against the Montreal Impact. The last place Impact have struggled this year and will be desperate for a win of their own in front of their home town fans, especially after dropping a 3-2 result at Stade Saputo last weekend to Columbus Crew SC.
Match Preview: “To get the most out of their stars, however, the Timbers will want to put the Montreal back line under pressure. After two fantastic seasons for the Impact, Laurent Ciman is currently suffering through a significant downtick in form this year and his supporting cast have not been able to step up consistently. As a result, when teams have been able to put the Impact on the back foot — whether that is by breaking quickly down the pitch or through simple movement in the box — goals have come.”
Preview Interview: “I think there still is hope for the Montreal Impact this season, we recently signed midfielder Dzemaili who showed some brilliance with Piatti last weekend and also added an assist that game. Also, many injuries this season on our backline has weakened us defensively, Hassoun Camara who won team MVP last season as been missed in the back alongside Victor Cabrera. I do think there's a possibility the Montreal Impact make the playoffs this season, what we saw in Seattle last season shows no ones out of the race until you're mathematically out.”
