Injury Report: Diego Chara out 4 weeks with a hamstring strain

And the hits keep comin’...

MLS: Portland Timbers at Montreal Impact Eric Bolte-USA TODAY Sports

Jamie Goldberg at the Oregonian is reporting that Diego Chara picked up a hamstring strain against the Sounders over the weekend and will be out for at least a month. If that wasn’t enough, Amobi Okugo is out 4-6 weeks as well with a ACL strain. He was injured on that Dempsey header that sealed the draw.

Lots of people have noticed that Okugo didn’t get a good enough leap to block out Dempsey, and now we know why.

The Timbers will also most likely be without the services of Darlington Nagbe, who also picked up a hammy strain. Though he is listed as questionable for the match against the Sporting Kansas City according to Timbers coach Caleb Porter.

"We won't rule him out yet, but he hasn't trained this week," Porter said. "So, he's definitely questionable for the match. We'll know in the next several days."

You can also rule out Captain Liam Ridgewell.

He has yet to train this week and will not be available on the weekend against Sporting Kansas City. If he’s back for Chicago I’ll be completely amazed.

It’s getting to the point with the Gold Cup break coming up that maybe it’s best if he just keeps getting healthy and return after the break. But now with Okugo out at the least 4 months, if not six - we need him back sooner rather than later.

Help is here and can hit the pitch as soon as the transfer window opens on July 10th. That makes Mabiala available for for the home match against Real Salt Lake on July 19th.
