Thoughts on a Great #STWeek

Match Gallery: Portland Timbers vs. Atlanta United

Tomorrow is Match Day. It is also the end of Stand Together Week 2017.
Is it the best week of the year? You decide. But it is definitely a week where many people in the community get together and share their love of the sport and help make our little corner of the world just a little bit better than we left it.

It is also merely a snapshot of all of the good things the Timbers and Stand Together do all year around. And that doesn’t even begin to cover all the community outreach and volunteerism the 107ist prides itself on.

I am someone who has always wanted to get involved but never made the time. And if you are in the same boat as I was, I insist you find the time. If you want to get involved, do it. I spent a lot of time this week helping out with different Stand Together projects and I couldn’t have had a more enjoyable time. I have also spent a significant amount of time helping Keith Palau and crew with the Beaverton DHS Visitation Room project (and shall be helping to finish that all up this weekend). And I don’t want to stop there.

From helping out with a little beach clean up at Kelly Point Park to playing recess games with kids in SE Portland, it’s been a wonderfully busy week for me. I definitely want to thank everyone at Stand Together for having me out to help all week. Hopefully I can follow my own advice and keep up with giving back. Even if it is just doing my part to end each day leaving Portland a little bit better than it started.

Don’t forget to checkout the #STWeek hashtag on Twitter to see all the photos and different things that have been going on this week. And you can also find more in depth updates at the Timbers website.
