The Portland Timbers are back from their break and looking to snap their current five game winless streak with a victory over struggling Western Conference side Real Salt Lake. RSL are hungry for points as well and will prove to be no pushovers as they strive to remain relevant in the playoff race as the second half of the season marches onward.
Previews
Preview Interview: “From a talent perspective, that goal differential is hardly representative of who we are. But from a team perspective, from the view of how we've been interacting and gelling, that's absolutely accurate. Our ability to come together for a match was incredibly bad. Nobody was really on the same page. We didn't look like a proper team, and that really hurt us for extended stretches.”
Storylines: “One bright spot about the match with Real Salt Lake is the possible debut of Larrys Mabiala at center-back. The reason I say possible, is he’s listed as questionable. Which could be down to match fitness. But, he didn’t start for T2 in their loss to Swope Park Rangers. This is a good thing in my eye’s, if he wasn’t match fit they would have started him in that T2 match.”
