Jamie Goldberg of the Oregonian is reporting that Timbers Captain Liam Ridgewell has suffered a setback after returning to training. He re-injured his quad his first day back and will now be out at least 6-8 weeks. There is a little bit of good news in this, because when the Timbers get back from the Gold Cup break Larrys Mabiala will be available for selection. And will most likely slot in next to Roy Miller.
"Obviously, when you have your best defender and your captain and a key guy, you would like him on the pitch and in training and around the team all the time," Porter said. "It's not ideal. It does happen, but the re-injuries, that's one that doesn't happen a lot and you have to start to ask some questions... These are things we have to evaluate, we have to analyze

Maybe it’s time to start asking some tough question though. Is it possible that we might be/or should be witnessing the end of the Ridgewell era? Also, at this point do you just hope he’s back for the playoffs?
By the way, if you didn’t need reminding he’s not the only player out. Diego Chara is still out and not expected back any time soon. So is Amobi Okugo who injured his ACL during the Sounders match. He also, according to the fine reporting of Jamie Goldberg - is out 4-6 weeks. Not to mention the players we have off on international duty for the aforementioned Gold cup.
