The Portland Timbers are at home once again and looking to break their current four game winless streak with a result against the hottest team in the league: the Chicago Fire. Although the Fire will be without midfield mainstays Bastian Schweinstager and Dax McCarty, the Timbers have the trump card when it comes to absences as the side will enter into tonight’s match unable to field a full 18 due to injuries and call ups ravaging their defensive corps.
Preview Interview: “Obviously the midfield quality is single the biggest difference between this year's side and last season's. But another, less-heralded key has been the familiarity that Brandon Vincent, Joao Meira, Johan Kappelhof and Matt Lampson acquired during last year's terrible season - the defense came into the year basically settled, which has made the midfield's tasks simpler to contemplate.”
Storylines: “It’s no big secret we’ve fallen off since the fantastic start. Those were the days. What happens if have another string of bad results? It brings that red line even closer. I get we’re sitting pretty good in third place, but if you look at points per match - they’re playing more like a 5th place team.”
