The first two rounds of the MLS SuperDraft kick off today and the Portland Timbers have absolutely nothing to do with them. Barring a move by Gavin Wilkinson and company, the Timbers have traded away all of their picks until the third and fourth rounds, which will take place on Sunday, January 21st.
The Timbers’ picks are numbers 15 (No. 61 overall), 17 (No. 63), and 18 (No. 64) in the third round, and number 18 (No. 87 overall) in the fourth round.
Still, the draft is a time for wheeling and dealing, so even if the Timbers do not get into the fray, expect plenty to happen this morning.
With expansion side Los Angeles FC picking first and third, and rumors swirling around the top picks in the draft, there will certainly be some moves of interest around the league.
If you decide to check out the draft, feel free to drop into the comments and wonder over the picks that everyone but the Timbers make today.
Heck, maybe former Timbers academy player Nico DeVera will make a splash and give us something to gab about.
