Gotta face it, our club is heading into a major transitional phase. Every featured player, especially those who are the club's spine - Chara, Valeri, Mabiala and Ridgewell - will be 33+, with many extra miles due to 3 years of playoff runs. To this group we must add Blanco and Guzman, both at 30+.
It's crystal clear this club needs to begin changing - a lot - starting this off-season. Standing pat is a certain recipe for an immediate swoon.
Let's talk about what the big questions are to make this transition while keeping the Timbers competitive...My questions are:
How do we make those changes?
What style of play do we feature?
What changes come first?
Which current players can we build around in the near term (1-2 years), and who will be major features for 3-5 years?
C'mon, channel your "inner Gavin"....let's build a transition plan!
