Like their teammate Jorge Villafana (USA), Portland Timbers Andy Polo (Peru) and Cristhian Paredes (Paraguay) have been called up by their respective national teams to play in the slate of upcoming international friendlies during the FIFA window.
Polo and Peru will be playing Ecuador (home) on Thursday the 15th, and then Costa Rica (away) on the 20th. The 24-year-old winger was on Peru’s World Cup squad, and in October was called back into the Peruvian national team. In matches against Chile and the United States he picked up an assist and played a total 104 minutes, going 90 against the USMNT. Since making his senior debut in 2016, Polo has a total of 18 caps.
Paredes will be joining the Paraguayan national team for the Nelson Mandela Challenge friendlies tournament in South Africa on Tuesday the 20th. Parades has a total of one cap for the senior team and will be looking to get his second.
