Portland Thorns head coach Mark Parsons received a two game touchline suspension and an undisclosed fine from the NWSL for what the league termed “misconduct in his interactions with officials”.

Parsons was apparently dismissed by the referee following the conclusion of the 1-0 loss to the North Carolina Courage. He was given an automatic one-match suspension for being sent off and the NWSL disciplinary committee assessed a further match suspension as well as a fine after assessing the severity of the incident.

The Thorns are currently appealing the suspension. Parsons did travel with the team to Chicago for the game against the Chicago Red Stars but will not be permitted to be touchline should the suspension be upheld. He would also miss the home opener on April 15th when the Thorns host Orlando.
