Real Salt Lake goalkeeper Nick Rimando earns 200th career win | MLSsoccer.com
Real Salt Lake goalkeeper Nick Rimando continued to rewrite the MLS record books on Saturday, as he played in his 200th career win. The victory, by a 3-2 scoreline over D.C. United at Rio Tinto Stadium, makes him the first goalkeeper in league history to reach that mark.
Mauro Diaz responds to benching with three assists in win over LA Galaxy | MLSsoccer.com
After being parked on the bench for four games, Mauro Diaz set a team record for most assists in a game, and came one shy of tying the MLS record as he provided assists for all three FC Dallas goals in their 3-2 win over the LA Galaxy.
Is the Seattle Sounders' era as an MLS superclub coming to an end? | Football | The Guardian
For years, it was the most authentic experience Major League Soccer had to offer. In many ways, they were US soccer’s marquee club. The usual derision thrown at American teams, the kind that mocks the plastic rivalries and contrived narratives of a soccer-sphere still establishing itself, never stuck on the Seattle Sounders with their decades of history and average home attendance of over 40,000 fans.
Orlando City head coach Jason Kreis: ATLUTD "gives us a measuring stick" | MLSsoccer.com
“The message is clear that we’re a team that’s moving forward, and I think Atlanta has shown through the way they finished last year and the way they started off this year, they’re the top… that’s the apex,” Kreis told reporters. “So, they give us a measuring stick to see what we’re striving for. I feel like we’re an improving team. I feel like we caused all sorts of troubles in the second half. From my point of view, [if] we would’ve handled the whole 90 minutes like we did in the second 45, I think we’d be in a much better place.”
Davies: Why the Sounders' 5-4-1 experiment does Dempsey no favors | MLSsoccer.com
The Sounders lined up in an atypical 5-4-1 formation heading into the match at Providence Park, one they used just once in recent memory, getting a win against Toronto FC on Wednesday. This formation, which places emphasis on defending and indicates their intention of grinding merely for a point, lacks attacking prowess. With five shots, one shot on target and one offside call they rarely threatened.
Armchair Analyst: All 23 MLS teams ranked by tier – revisited | MLSsoccer.com
First a tip of the cap to the great Zach Lowe, who coined this column format with his "Annual Tiers of the NBA" tome. I've blatantly copied that approach for my own preseason Tiers of MLS, and since you all liked it so much and since about 30 percent of the season is in the books, now's a good time to revisit.
LAFC, NYCFC both enjoy quality, intensity, atmosphere of memorable draw | MLSsoccer.com
In the 67th minute of LAFC’s match vs. New York City FC on Sunday, Carlos Vela calmly settled a loose ball deep in the visitors’ penalty box before he buried a rare right-footed blast into the net. The first goal LAFC have ever scored in Banc of California Stadium’s North End, home to its raucous 3252 supporters’ section, there was a sense that the Mexican international’s strike would be a match winner — if not the catalyst for more goals for the home side.
Crew SC credit "stronger mentality" for run of 3 straight clean sheets | MLSsoccer.com
With Saturday’s 3-0 domination of the Chicago Fire, Columbus have earned three straight shutouts for the first time since 2011, well before Berhalter’s time with the club. While the Crew SC boss has always preached a flowing style and an aggressive attack, he said he’s been thrilled by the way his team has bought into defending this season.

NASL v. USSF/MLS: Dramatic Change in Tactics as Defendants File Answer to Amended Complaint – Socceresq
We’ve had a pretty big change in legal strategy in the NASL v. USSF/MLS anti-trust case. As far back as October, USSF (then the only defendant) was angling to file a motion to dismiss the anti-trust case. That was put on hold while the parties argued over the preliminary injunction. When that was decided in February, the parties then set a schedule to get the case moving again. NASL filed an amended complaint as expected, and all that was left was for USSF/MLS to file their expected motion to dismiss…
