Portland Timbers at Colorado Rapids: How to Watch, Preview, Match Chat [6:00]

MLS: Colorado Rapids at Portland Timbers Troy Wayrynen-USA TODAY Sports

The Portland Timbers are headed up into the Rocky Mountains today to take on the Colorado Rapids. With their five game winning streak on the line, the Timbers will face a Rapids side that has completely reshaped itself since the last time the two sides played, but still remains in last place in the Western Conference.

Of course, the Rapids have a streak of their own going that they are actively trying to break: the side have not taken a single point in their last five games, getting outscored 12-2 during that period.

That the Rapids have been flailing for purchase in 2018 and have yet to find any does not mean that the Timbers can look past them. Heading on the road to the Mile-High City is always a difficult trip and seven of the Rapids’ eight points this year have come at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.

Previews

Storylines: “With Liam Ridgewell on the shelf for the time being, who steps up and starts for the Timbers next to Larrys Mabiala? Will it be Julio Cascante or Bill Tuiloma? A case could be made for either player, really. Cascante put on a clinic during his time on the pitch in Portland after Liam Ridgewell went down early. He had nine clearances, a few key recoveries, and basically was a monster at the back.”
