Portland Thorns against Sky Blue FC: Preview, how to watch, match thread [7:30]

Nikita Taparia

The Portland Thorns (fourth place, 19 points, 5-4-4) return home to take on Sky Blue FC (ninth place, 2 points, 0-2-9) tonight at 7:30 at Providence Park. The Thorns are very nearly at full health now, with Tobin Heath and Hayley Raso officially off the injury report and Midge Purce in contention to get her first minutes since being injured in national team camp last month. The Thorns put together as good a performance as they have done all season away at Houston but still couldn’t come up with a clean sheet, a feat the Thorns have only managed twice in thirteen games so far this season.

Storylines

“The Thorns will want to score early to put a marker down, and no one is better at making that happen than Tobin Heath. Should Sky Blue manage to keep the game relatively tight, game management might become interesting with so many players on restricted minutes as they return from injury, but other than that, it should be a pretty straightforward night out.”
