Major League Soccer today released the roster for the 2018 MLS Homegrown Game that is part of the MLS All-Star festivities. Our very own Marco Farfan has been named to the roster of 20 for the match that will take place July 31st in Marietta, GA. This is the second year in a row that he’s been named to the Homegrown roster.
The Homegrown team will be taking on UNAL Tigres U20’s from LigaMX who are the currently league champions. The game will be broadcast on Univision Deportes Network and, for the first time since its inception, it will also be broadcast on Twitter.
Farfan is the first homegrown player signed by the Timbers and the youngest MLS Timber to sign at the age of 19. Since signing for the first team in 2017, he’s made 14 appearances, nine of those starts; this includes eight appearances (4 starts) in Portland’s first 16 games to start the 2018 season. On the international level, he has two caps from the USMNT U19’s, starting both and going the full 90.
