Major League Soccer and the Portland Timbers have announced today that they are moving the match time for this Saturday’s clash with the Houston Dynamo. Portland is in the middle of a heat wave and temperatures are expected to reach the mid-90s on Saturday. The match was originally scheduled for a 6pm first kick, and now because of the heat it has been moved back to 8pm to allow the field to cool down.
The match was originally set to be broadcast on ESPN, that too has moved. It will now be seen on FOX 12+ as well as broadcast on 102-9 The Game and La GranD 1150 AM/93.5 FM. Hopefully the turf will cool down enough by 8pm, because temps could still be well into the 80’s even after the sun goes down.
If you’re attending the match, make sure to keep hydrated and stay as cool as possible.
