Lindsey Horan has been voted the NWSL Player of the Month by the NWSL Media Association for July, the league announced today.

Horan played two of the Thorns three games in July before departing for US Women’s National team camp, getting the second goal in the 4-0 win against the Utah Royals and getting the first two of three goals in the 3-1 win against the Houston Dash. The three goals brought her level with Sam Kerr on nine goals in the race for the NWSL golden boot. Horan ran the show against the Royals, assisting Tyler Lussi for the fourth goal and having her deflected pass land at the feet of Ana-Maria Crnogorcevic for the third. Horan did all this while dominating the midfield defensively, winning 25 duels and making six interceptions. Horan leads the Thorns midfielders in duels won at 60% on the season.

Somehow this is the first time that Horan has ever been named the NWSL player of the Month, joining Tobin Heath and Allie Long as one-time recipients. Christine Sinclair has been named the NWSL player of the Month three times.
